9/12

“Every day in the United States 110 babies die before their first birthday. A simple analogy: if an airplane with 110 American children crashed every single day, the United States and the world would be in tears.” – The Mobilization of Shame

It is 9/12. As a recent New Yorker, I cannot help but think of the attacks on 9/11 and the devastation it caused on us Americans and the amount of media coverage that went along with this act. However, these atrocities happen every day and we live and continue without any awareness of the daily violation of human rights. Where is the media on this issue today? Where is the awareness? I am currently learning about the Human Rights Laws and Treaties of the globe. I feel extremely privileged to be learning, studying, and researching the current social issues we face today as a global society. I am aware however that with this new knowledge comes an immense amount of responsibility. I am ready.
